An Iranian drone hit an island near Bahrain, 32 civilians were injured

A night attack by an Iranian drone on the island of Sitra near Manama injured dozens of civilians, including children. Four are in serious condition and houses were left destroyed.

An overnight strike by an Iranian drone on an island south of the Bahraini capital Manama injured at least 32 civilians, including children, Bahrain’s health ministry said on Monday. The condition of four people is serious, TASR informs, according to a report from the DPA agency.

All those injured in the Iranian drone attack on Sitra Island were Bahraini citizens. According to the ministry’s statement, among them is a 17-year-old girl who suffered serious head and eye injuries, or a two-month-old infant. Several houses were also damaged on Sitra.

Material damage and infrastructure attack

Bahrain’s Ministry of Health said on Sunday morning that Iran had indiscriminately attacked civilian targets and caused material damage to a water desalination plant.

The Iranian strike also caused a fire in the refinery of the state company Bapco, which declared “force majeure”. It releases the company from its contractual obligations due to extraordinary circumstances.

Retaliatory attacks by Iran against the region

In retaliation for the attacks launched against it by the United States and Israel on February 28, Iran is striking countries in the Middle East. American military bases in the region as well as civilian infrastructure, including airports and residential buildings, became their targets. Among the Gulf countries, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar reported a particularly large number of strikes.
