PF delegate and former secretary are arrested for influence peddling for criminals

This Monday (9), the Federal Police (PF) launched Operation Anomaly to dismantle a criminal nucleus that was involved in negotiating undue advantages and selling influence to favor the interests of an international drug trafficker. Among those already arrested are federal delegate Fabrizio José Romano and a former state secretary, Alessandro Pitombeira Carracena. Lawyers and public servants are also being sought.

According to the PF, four preventive arrest warrants and three search and seizure warrants are being served in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to various precautionary measures, such as removal from public service. The court orders were issued by the Federal Supreme Court. According to the investigation, the evidence collected indicates that those investigated structured a criminal association focused on committing crimes against public administration and favoring interests linked to drug trafficking.

The scheme was coordinated by a former secretary of state and lawyers, who acted as intermediaries to facilitate favors and undue payments in kind to the Federal Police delegate involved in the scheme, in exchange for information and internal influence. The investigations also revealed the actions of an individual with a criminal history, focused on political and operational facilitation in Brasília.

The action is part of the Mission Redentor II Task Force, established in compliance with ADPF Ruling 635, which aims to ensure uniform and coordinated action by the Federal Police in the production of intelligence and repression of the main violent criminal groups in the State of Rio de Janeiro, with a special focus on dismantling their connections with public and political agents.
