Marco António Amaro resigned from defending the former prime minister. This was José Sócrates’ eighth lawyer in 12 years, the fourth official to withdraw from the case.
José Sócrates returned, on Monday, to be left without a lawyer in the case of . Marco Antônio Amaro submitted a request for excuse to the Lisbon Regional Council of the Bar Association. The decision once again stops all progress in the trial, which had scheduled the resumption of sessions for next Tuesday, March 17th.
The news of Marco António Amaro’s resignation, confirmed by SIC, will mean a new stop in the trial.

The Lisbon Regional Council of the Order will now have to draw a new name for the defense of the former prime minister. The appointed lawyer will a new 10 day period to keep up to date with the process and only then can you start again.
Marco Antônio Amaro was the by the Bar Association after the Sara Leitão Amaro’s withdrawal. The previous lawyer abandoned the defense of José Sócrates after the court refuses to extend the 10 deadline to consult the case.
O fourth unofficial lawyer of Socrates also had 10 days to study the process. Marco António Amaro withdrew the case about a week after collecting the documents from the court secretariat.
In 12 years, this was the eighth lawyer by José Sócrates, cmeeting with João Araújo, who passed away. Pedro Delille, José Preto and Sara Leitão Moreira resigned, incompatible with the court, to which the unofficial José Ramos, Inês Louro and Ana Velho were added.
