Loulé promotes conversation about food and health to dismantle myths

On March 27th, Londrina City Hall is promoting another session of the Conversation Cycle “Sow Today… Harvest Tomorrow…”, dedicated to the theme “Food and Health: Deconstructing Myths”. The initiative takes place at 6:30 pm, at the Loulé Municipal Library, and will be led by nutritionist Sofia Sousa Silva.

According to the municipality, this session aims to help the public reflect on the relationship between food and health, encouraging informed choices based on scientific knowledge.

Session addresses myths and fads in food

The relationship between food and health has often been marked by conflicting information and passing food trends. In this context, the municipality highlights the importance of using scientific sources to understand the real impacts of food choices.

As Loulé City Hall says, “the relationship between food and health is often surrounded by myths, fads and contradictory information”, highlighting that “with fad diets and miraculous promises, it is essential to turn to science to understand what really contributes to well-being”.

The session therefore aims to promote critical reflection on eating habits and encourage more balanced and sustainable practices.

As part of this conversation, the importance of deconstructing misconceptions that circulate about food and health will be addressed.

In this sense, the city hall argues that “deconstructing these myths is essential to promote conscious eating choices”, adding that “more than following fads, investing in balanced eating habits, combined with regular physical activity, is the safest way to protect health throughout life”.

The session aims to contribute to greater food literacy, reinforcing the role of prevention and health education in families’ daily lives.

Monthly conversations that encourage participation and debate

The Conversation Cycle “Sow Today… Harvest Tomorrow…” is an initiative held monthly and aimed at the community in general.

According to the City of Londrina, “this monthly program challenges the general population to participate, reflect, share and debate, on various topics, with the aim of contributing to the training of individuals and families, in promoting their health and well-being”.

As in previous sessions, during the initiative, an activity will be available for children aged 3 years and over, dedicated to promoting books and reading and promoted by professionals from the Municipal Library, upon prior registration.

Participation in the session is free, but registration is required using the following online form:
