Vienna – The resignation of ORF General Director Roland Weißmann due to allegations of sexual harassment comes at an inopportune time for the ORF. The extent of the damage to the company depends very much on the reaction of the new ORF leadership and management, says Media scientist Josef Trappel in the STANDARD interview. Trappel does not believe that the turbulence could lead to the debate about depoliticizing public broadcasting gaining momentum again. Now that Weißmann, the previous favorite, is out of the race, the field of candidates in the ORF election could become more diverse.
