Banana peel fertilizer is a popular and natural way to nourish orchids. Banana peels are rich in potassium, phosphorus and calcium – minerals crucial for the flowering and overall health of orchids. Potassium strengthens the stems and inflorescences, phosphorus supports the development of roots, and calcium helps build strong cell walls. Research has shown that appropriate proportions of these nutrients can significantly affect the intensity of flowering and the plant’s resistance to diseases. How to prepare this one? First, preheat the oven to the lowest temperature (around 60-70°C). Place the banana peels on baking paper and dry for a few hours until they are dry and crisp. During this time, leave the oven door slightly open to allow moisture to escape. When the peels are dry, grind them into a fine powder using a coffee grinder, blender or mortar. Sprinkle a small amount of powder (about 1/4 teaspoon) onto the surface of the soil in the pot and mix gently.
