Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkiyan on Tuesday and called for de-escalation in the Middle East conflictinformed the Kremlin. TASR took over the report from the AFP agency.
“The Russian president confirmed his principled position, which supports the rapid de-escalation of tensions in this conflict and its resolution through political means,” the Kremlin said in a statement. “Pezeshkiyan thanked Russia for its support, especially for providing humanitarian aid to Iran,” added the Kremlin.
The TASS agency emphasizes that this is the second phone call in one week between Putin and the Iranian president. They also spoke together on Friday, March 6, after Putin held talks with representatives of the Persian Gulf countries.
