Operation in Bairro do Cerco: 3 kg of heroin, half a kilo of cocaine and some hashish and amphetamines were seized.

The Public Security Police investigation (PSP) started in October 2024.

A criminal group in Porto, set up a security system for drug traffickers who are on the street: watchmen, security guards, who used firearms if there were unforeseen events.

The investigation concluded this Thursday at Bairro do Cerco: 17 suspects were arrested. They were part of one of the largest drug trafficking networks in the neighborhood.

They were seized 3 kg of heroin, half a kilo of cocaine and some hashish and amphetamines. The searches ended with the seizure of 5 thousand euros in banknotes, batons, knives, nine firearms and 400 ammunition of different calibers. All weapons are illegal and were seized.

The adds that one of the detainees was a goalkeeper for FC Porto.

Ivan Cardoso is 22 years old. He never played for Dragão’s main team, but played for FC Porto’s youth teams since he was 9 years old and even represented FC Porto’s B team. The last season as a football player was 2022/23.

In December 2023, he was arrested on suspicion of seizure e extortion. In question, an extortion attempt on a couple, on November 26, 2023, and the kidnapping of the woman in an apartment, also in Bairro do Cerco.

Ivan will even be one of the five main elements of the criminal organization. He bought the drug, handled the product, which was then distributed to other members. Lives close to the neighborhood.

Among the 17 detainees there are two women. 10 detainees were caught red-handed in possession of drugs or weapons.
