Bolsonaro in Intensive Care – Diagnosed with pneumonia

Μπολσονάρου: Στο νοσοκομείο με νεφρική ανεπάρκεια μια βδομάδα μετά την καταδίκη του

Imprisoned former President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to an intensive care unit on Friday after being diagnosed with bronchopneumonia, according to a medical opinion from DF Star Hospital.

Bolsonaro, 70, was brought in early Friday morning with a high fever, chills and a drop in oxygen, the statement said, adding that he was taking antibiotics.

His health condition is serious and he is expected to remain in hospital for at least the next few days, one of his doctors, Brasil Caiado, told reporters in Brasilia. Surgery has been ruled out for now, Kaiado added.

The former president, who ruled from 2019 to 2022, has a history of hospitalizations and surgeries after he was stabbed during a campaign event in 2018.

In January, he was admitted to the hospital for a series of tests, after falling and hitting his head. In December he underwent medical procedures to treat a hernia and persistent hiccups.

Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year sentence for plotting a coup after losing the 2022 presidential election to incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
