CAS approves project that regulates training of parachutists and instructors

Proposal provides for theoretical and practical courses, minimum experience requirement and rules defined by the National Civil Aviation Agency

The (Social Affairs Commission) approved this Wednesday (11 March 2026) a project that creates rules for the training of parachutists, professional or not, and instructors. They will have to attend courses that will cover theoretical and practical aspects, as well as accident prevention measures.

The requirement will not apply to parachutists and instructors who are already qualified or carry out the activity when the future law comes into force.

TRAINING AND SAFETY

The proposal also defines criteria for exercising the activity of instructor. In addition to technical mastery of the sport, professionals must complete a course with theoretical and practical content, as well as first aid training.

It will also be necessary to prove a minimum number of jumps and present physical and psychological capacity to perform the role, as per regulations.

According to the text, it will be up to the (National Civil Aviation Agency) to regulate the qualification requirement for parachutists, in addition to accrediting training courses and the instructors themselves. The measure seeks to establish uniform training criteria to reduce the risks associated with the sport.
