Lula receives president of Bolivia to discuss trade agreements

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) receives, this Monday (16), the president of Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz Pereira, at Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília.

The meeting with the right-wing leader focuses on expanding bilateral cooperation between countries in the areas of industry, infrastructure, energy, agribusiness and fertilizer sales.

The meeting with Pereira takes place less than a week after Lula canceled his trip to the inauguration of the president of Chile, José Antonio Kast. The president decided not to attend the event after the senator and presidential candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), confirmed his participation.

During Kast’s event, the president of Bolivia even said that the country wants to be a bridge from Brazil to the Pacific Ocean. At a meeting in January, the leaders had already discussed greater integration between South American countries and alternatives to guarantee Bolivia’s access to ports.
