Geneva – According to the UN, prisoners are being tortured in Venezuela even after the capture of long-time head of state Nicolás Maduro in a US military operation at the beginning of the year. UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk said on Monday that his office had received information about the “continued torture and ill-treatment” of prison inmates. He called this information “very concerning.”
