United Airlines
Stricter rule on United Airlines: anyone who refuses to use headphones when listening to something on their cell phone or computer won’t even start their trip.
It was a discreet update, but it was done.
The airline United Airlines came to power pick up passengers of its planes – and even ban them permanently – if these refuse to use headphones when listening to content on your personal devices, according to a recent transport rules.
The measure is the result of a change in the so-called document that establishes the rights and duties between the carrier and customers. The revision, introduced on February 27, now explicitly includes the mandatory use of headphones whenever a passenger is listening to music, watching videos or consuming any type of content with sound.
According to the new policy, passengers who do not comply with this rule may be prevented from boarding.
In more serious or repeat cases, the company also reserves the right to refuse transportation in the futureapplying temporary or permanent bans.
The decision comes in a context of growing concern about the comfort on board, at a time when the use of personal electronic devices has become widespread. The objective is reduce noise in cabins and avoid behaviors considered disruptive by other passengers.
Although the use of headphones was already widely recommended as a rule of etiquette on flights, Scott Keyes, an air traffic expert, commented that this measure is unprecedented among large airlines in the United States, which normally only encourage — but do not impose — this behavior.
Even so, the carrier allows certain flexibility: passengers who forget of your headphones can request a free pair on board, subject to availability.
