PL seals support for Moro in Paraná and reinforces Flávio Bolsonaro’s platform

The PL decided to support the candidacy of senator Sergio Moro (União-PR) for the government of Paraná, in a move that also strengthens the platform of presidential pre-candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) in the state. The articulation was confirmed after a meeting this Wednesday (18) between leaders of the party and the former Lava Jato judge.

Participating in the meeting, in addition to Moro and Flávio, were the party president, Valdemar Costa Neto, senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), coordinator of the presidential campaign, and deputy Filipe Barros (PL-PR). The group discussed the terms of support and possible scenarios for the state election.

After the meeting, Costa Neto stated that the PL must support Moro even if he remains in the União Progressista federation. At the same time, he left open the possibility of membership if the senator faces internal obstacles to making his candidacy viable.

“The party’s doors are open,” said the leader, who is awaiting a decision from Moro after conversations with the federation’s national leaders.

Strategy aims to strengthen Flávio

The movement occurs amid the PL’s attempt to consolidate regional bases for Flávio Bolsonaro’s presidential campaign. Paraná is considered strategic because it is the fifth largest electoral college in the country and because it has the potential to align with the party’s electorate.

The rapprochement with Moro gained strength after the deterioration in the relationship with the group led by governor Ratinho Júnior (PSD), which led the PL to seek a competitive alternative in the state.

Continues after advertising

With no guarantee of space within the Progressive Union, Moro began to evaluate other options to avoid the risk of having his candidacy blocked at party conventions.

The final decision depends on the positioning of the national leaders of the acronyms that make up the federation, including Antonio Rueda and senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), who delegated the conduct of local negotiations to deputy Ricardo Barros (PP-PR).

In this context, the PL’s support appears as a viable alternative for both the senator and Flávio’s national project.

Leadership in research

The party’s interest is also supported by Moro’s electoral performance. According to a survey by the Paraná Pesquisas institute, the senator leads the first round scenarios, with voting intentions ranging between 40% and 47%.

With this scenario, the agreement between PL and Moro tends to redesign the dispute in the state and increase the party’s weight in the 2026 presidential race.
