The president of the party, Edinho Silva, assesses that any name nominated by Jair Bolsonaro would have rapid growth in electoral polls in the first instance
The PT president, , stated that the growth of the senator (PL) in polls of voting intentions for the Presidency of the Republic was already expected by the party. In an interview with Poder360the leader said that this phenomenon would happen to anyone who was nominated by the former president (PL) because political polarization in the country is still very strong.
“I think that in this polarized society, any candidate who represented this pole, which is the pole led by Bolsonaro, which was led by Bolsonaro, would grow quickly. Especially someone who has Bolsonaro in his name. Flávio is Flávio Bolsonaro. So he would capitalize, this part of society that is hegemonized by this polarization, would capitalize very quickly”he declared.

According to Edinho, Lula’s reaction to Flávio’s growth in the polls was natural, but the leader declared that the head of the Executive will not enter into the opposition’s dynamics. “Lula is government. He was elected to govern until the end of December 2026. So, Lula cannot enter the opposition dynamic. He has to continue governing, delivering, facing Brazilian problems, developing a project for Brazil in the coming decades”these.

Edinho Silva also said that the polarized environment involving Lula and Flávio makes it impossible for a strong candidacy to emerge as an alternative.
“There is very little space for the 3rd way, unfortunately. The ideal would be for us to have several candidates, with several proposals, and the Brazilian people to be able to choose which is the best proposal, but I don’t think this is the scenario for the 2026 elections. In a society that is still polarized, the tendency is for the other candidacies to lose strength”, declared.
