Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei expressed condolences over the assassination of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
In the statement published on social media, Khamenei praised Larijani, saying he was a “visionary” who served the country for almost 50 years.
He noted that Larijani possessed military, security and administrative roles, playing a key role at various levels of the Iranian regime.
Khamenei strongly condemned the killing, saying the act exposed the “deep animosity” of hostile forces. He assured that the bloodshed will only serve to strengthen the Islamic Republic and emphasized that those inevitably responsible for its crimes.
The supreme leader also expressed condolences to the Larijani family.
Revolutionary Guard announces attacks
In the early hours of Thursday (19), Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued an emergency statement announcing the launch of heavy and reciprocal operations against oil and energy facilities linked to the United States in the region.
On Wednesday, several Israeli media outlets reported that the Israeli Air Force had attacked an important , located in Bushehr, in the south of the country.
If joint attacks between the US and Israel are repeated, future attacks on the countries’ energy infrastructure will not cease until it is completely destroyed, the Revolutionary Guard said.
