The mayor of , JHC (PL), does not intend to attend the launch of the pre-candidacy of the former president of the Chamber (PP) for , this Friday (20), in the capital of Alagoas.
When asked by the Panel whether the mayor would attend the launch, the mayor’s office responded that he must be absent. “The mayor claims not to have been informed about the event nor to have lined up any pre-candidacy with Arthur”, he says in a note.
Lira intends to give a show of strength by bringing together allies and mayors in an event at a hotel in the capital of Alagoas.
The mayor and Lira have always been close politically, but have recently grown apart. JHC is analyzing the possibility of himself being a candidate for the Senate, or for state government. To do so, he would have to leave city hall by April 4th.
In recent days, JHC has been meeting with chiefs from parties such as the PSDB and Republicans, citing signs that Lira wants to control the PL. The mayor is considering leaving the party to run for office.
The scenario for the Alagoas Senate is congested. In addition to Lira and possibly JHC, the current senator and the INSS CPMI rapporteur should be candidates.
