A moment of tension marked the representatives of this Thursday morning (19). The meeting, which aimed to discuss urgent demands, such as the presence of mediators in schools, ended in an atmosphere of revolt after Mayor Gerlen Diniz left the place before closing.
According to those present, the municipal manager withdrew citing other commitments precisely at a crucial moment in the meeting. Early departure was interpreted by mothers and fathers as a lack of sensitivity to the situation faced by families.
One of the most heated was state deputy Pablo Bregense, who harshly criticized the mayor’s stance. According to him, the attitude demonstrates unpreparedness to deal with the seriousness of the problem and the demands presented by the parents.
The atmosphere became even more tense because the mayor left the meeting just as councilwoman Lays Mayra was taking the floor. She even asked the manager to remain until the end of the meeting, but was not answered. The situation also gained repercussion due to the fact that Lays had recently broken with the mayor’s support base in the Chamber.
