An Iranian missile hit Israel’s Arad, 60 people were injured

An Iranian rocket landed between buildings in Arad, injuring about 60 people, including a five-year-old child. The Israeli authorities speak of a direct hit and heavy damage.

About 60 people were injured Saturday night in the latest Iranian rocket attack on the southern Israeli city of Arad, emergency services there said. TASR informs about it according to the reports of the AFP and DPA agencies, as well as the Times of Israel portal.

The Israeli rescue service Červený Dávidov štít (Magen David Adom – MDA) specified that the severity of injuries varies, and several people are missing. The news portal ynet reported on extensive damage in this desert city. The Times of Israel (TOI) reported that the condition of the six injured, including a five-year-old child, was serious.

They hit buildings

Firefighter sources there, quoted by AFP, said it was a “direct hit” between the buildings and there was “extensive damage”. The Israeli military said its search and rescue teams were heading to the site of an Iranian missile strike in the south of the country. According to TOI, the Israel Air Force has begun an investigation into the failure to intercept the ballistic missile that landed in Arad. According to estimates, the missile carried a conventional warhead with hundreds of kilograms of explosives, the portal adds.

Meanwhile, images of damaged buildings in Arad, located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Dimona, appeared in the Israeli media. This city in the Negev desert, which houses a nuclear facility – a research center, was targeted by an Iranian missile attack just a few hours earlier. More than 40 people were injured here.
