Brazilian politics has aged and lost public interest, becoming a repetitive topic, without presenting significant new features.
The analysis is director of consultancy Bites, Manoel Fernandesduring participation in the program WW Special – The election that the press doesn’t coverwhich aired this Sunday (22), at 10pm (Brasília time).
Fernandes highlighted that current political leaders are no longer able to arouse enthusiasm among the electorate.
“Brazilian politics has aged. The politics that are there, the leaders that are there, are leaders of the New Republic”, stated the expert, adding that “people are uninterested because it is more of the same, there is no new thing, it has become old”.
As an example of the need for renewal in political discourse, Fernandes cited a case that occurred in the last elections in the municipality of São Paulo, with Pablo Marçal: a candidate who “appeared out of nowhere” and used a different approach almost reached the second round.
“He didn’t say ‘we’re going to do this’; he said: ‘I’m going to do it together with you'”, explained the director, highlighting how the personalization of the speech managed to connect with voters uninterested in traditional politics.
In the expert’s view, the Brazilian political scenario is going through a moment of transition. He predicts that the next presidential election, with Lula (PT), regardless of the result, will mark the end of an era.
