In Mexico, thousands of people gathered at the Pyramid of the Sun to celebrate the beginning of Spring, in a tradition that has lasted more than a thousand years.
Dressed in white and accompanied by ancestral drums, the participants have different origins, but share a common belief. They believe that sunlight on this day brings balance and strength for the rest of the year.
At dawn on March 21st, hot air balloons become another attraction, attracting crowds to the Pyramid of the Sun, located in the north of Mexico City.
A tradition is ancientas well as the gestures and rituals that accompany it. To celebrate Spring, a time when the length of days and nights are in balance, there is a mix of rhythms, sounds and moments of introspection, combining party and spirituality.
