Xapuri: 121 years of history, struggle and Acre pride
Affectionately known as the Little Princess of Alto Acre, the city of Xapuri celebrates its 121 years reaffirming its important role in building the history and identity of our state. Land of the unforgettable Chico Mendes, Xapuri carries in every street, in every memory and in every resident the strength of a people who never stopped fighting for their ideals and for a better future.
Over more than a century, the city has stood out not only for its historical importance, but also for the resistance, courage and unity of its people, protagonists of so many achievements that helped strengthen local development and keep the cultural essence of the region alive.
This social column congratulates Xapuri and all its residents for this inspiring trajectory, marked by struggles, victories and a legacy that makes all of Acre proud.
May the coming years bring even more advances and may the current management live up to the historical grandeur that the city carries, investing and valuing a municipality that is a symbol of resistance and a reference for the entire state.
Long live Xapuri, its 121 years and its warrior people!

Bridges, promises and meetings, all very beautiful on paper
Last Friday (20), Mayor Carlinhos do Pelado’s office became the stage for another one of those meetings full of good intentions and institutional photos. Alongside vice-governor Mailza Assis and representatives of the Cobija Medical Schools (UPDS and UAP), the speech was as usual: strengthening dialogue, seeking partnerships and, of course, improving the population’s health.
So far, everything is perfect on paper. Because in practice, what people really want to know is when these “bridges” will stop being just nice words and start to appear in everyday life, at the end, where the service really happens.
The promise now is of significant advances, professional qualification and integration between Brazil and Bolivia. A complete package of good intentions that, if it goes beyond speech and becomes action, could even surprise.
Meanwhile, the population continues to watch, between hope and déjà vu, another chapter of the series: “meetings that promise to change everything”.

Other people’s lives
- Starting the week with the hot ruffles of this border, did you hear about it? A certain well-known police officer ended up starring in a scene worthy of a movie but without a happy ending, you know? They say that the man caught his beloved in the middle of “greatest love” in a car, hidden in a small street in Cobija, because the danger is not in love, it is in being caught. And look, the atmosphere wasn’t just heavy, it became tense, charged and with the right to an invisible audience, because at the border nothing goes unnoticed. According to good words (which never fail), the girl who was studying medicine there dropped out of the course and returned to her city, perhaps to study or to escape the script that went wrong. At the border, love may be prohibited, but being caught is always public
- And are you aware of the soap opera that became behind the scenes at a hospital? Because if it depends on the comments that run wild across the border, the business is more like a fighting octagon than a work environment. After two famous politicians left the government base, some positions became “free, light and free” and of course, it practically became a free-for-all for power. Mild climate, thank God, but not: They say that the environment inside is a real serpentarium, it’s a snake swallowing a snake, and those who weren’t, quickly learned to crawl. There are people who until yesterday were peace and love, now they are showing that they know very well how to play the game and without anesthesia! Bad (or good?) tongues still guarantee that even gospel people have entered the dispute because apparently, when it comes to power, even prayer comes accompanied by strategy. Hospitals were supposed to take care of health, but apparently what needs treatment the most in there is a lot of people’s egos.
- Guys, can someone explain to me what event was that on the Cultural Center court? Because, according to those who were there, there were more people from abroad than from here. “Hey, now Bolivian people also vote in the Brazilian elections and no one warned us?” Calm down, Brazil, we know it’s not like that, but the scene generated comments, ahhh that did! They said there was even a caravan arriving by bus, that organized scheme, everyone excited, coming to honor membership and of course hear promises that we already know well. Promise of improvement, of change, of a beautiful future, the complete “coming” package that never arrives. Lots of speeches, lots of excitement, lots of photos and, according to behind the scenes, lots of people are already training their ears to believe once again. An election year shouldn’t even be called that, it had to be officially renamed: “Year of Renewed Hope (and Short Memory)”. In border politics, promises come easy. It’s really difficult to see it grow and become a reality.
- And speaking of politics, because until October this will be the most repeated topic after “good morning”, we continue to watch the most predictable and yet shocking spectacle: people jumping from one branch to another, There are people who yesterday defended side A with nails, teeth and text, today they woke up hugging side B, swearing that “it was always like this”. Because in the end, what really counts in this race is not a proposal, it’s not a project, it’s how much will be added to the account and what positions will come in the package. And who supported it back there? Ahhh, the one who fights! You get the “thank you for your support” and, if you’re lucky, a “let’s talk later” that never happens. Promises here, agreements there, and in the middle of it all, a choreography worthy of a reality show: changing sides, changing speech, even changing opinions, all in record time! In border politics, loyalty is like a flash promotion, it doesn’t last long and a better one always comes along.
