The escalation in Lebanon does not stop. At least nine people have died and 47 have been injured in a new wave of Israeli bombings that have hit different parts of the country, on a day also marked by new orders from
The deadliest attacks were recorded in the south. In the town of Habush, three people lost their lives and 18 others were injuredwhile in Adloun Four citizens died and one more was injured. Added to these is the bombing on Mee Meewhich left two dead and four injured, as well as an attack on the city of Number which caused 24 injuries, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
The balance once again highlights the intensity of an offensive that has not stopped growing in recent weeks and that already exceeds a thousand fatalities in the country.
Evacuations and threat on Beirut
In parallel to the bombings, Israel has stepped up pressure on civilians with new evacuation orders. On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the Israeli Army urged residents of seven suburban areas to leave their homes due to the imminence of new attacks.
Among the areas highlighted are Haret Hreik, Yobeiri y Laylakidensely populated neighborhoods where the population has been living for weeks under the constant threat of bombings.
Israeli Army spokesman Avichay Adraee assured that operations will continue in that area with the objective of attacking “military infrastructure” of the Shiite group Hezbollah, in a strategy that combines a military offensive with forced displacement of civilians.
More than a thousand dead and hundreds of thousands displaced
Since the start of the war, more than 1,070 people have died in Lebanon as a consequence of Israeli attacks, in a conflict that has also caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands of citizens within the country.
The pressure on the civilian population is increasing. Mass evacuations, the destruction of infrastructure and the uncertainty about new attacks have turned large areas of the south and Beirut into scenes of humanitarian crisis.
Hezbollah response
In the midst of this escalation, Hezbollah has responded with attacks targeting Israeli positions. The Shiite group reported launching rockets and artillery shells against concentrations of troops and vehicles of the Israeli Army in the city of Taybe, in southern Lebanon.
Likewise, he claimed to have attacked Israeli military infrastructure in the Syrian Golan Heightsexpanding the radius of action of its operations and evidencing the risk of a regional extension of the conflict.
A tension that does not give way
The constant exchange of attacks, threats and evacuation orders paint an increasingly unstable scenario. The possibility of further escalation remains on the table as civilians remain trapped between shelling and displacement.
For now, the violence does not let up. And Lebanon continues to add victims.
