Hungary’s position is legally justified, morally correct and politically reasonable, wrote Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on platform X in response to Wednesday’s report delivered in the European Parliament by the President of the European Council Antonio Costa. The correspondent of TASR in Budapest informs about it.
Costa on the ground of the EP according to the server magyarhirlap.hu zemphasized the necessity of creating a financial and technical framework for the restoration of the damaged oil pipeline, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi promised in the coming weeks. He warned that the EU is financing the war by buying Russian gas, which he described as politically unacceptable blackmail. He pointed out that no one can blackmail the Union or use it as a means of an election campaign.
Orbán continues to insist on his sentence of a 90-billion-dollar loan for Ukraine, which he is blocking due to disputes over oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline. He is willing to withdraw the veto only after they are restored. He made this statement on March 19 before arriving at the European Council meeting in Brussels. “We are ready to support Ukraine when we get our oil, which they are blocking us. Until then, I don’t see any decision that would be favorable to Ukraine.” said Orbán.
