Novo announces sale of Zema Presidente t-shirt – 03/28/2026 – Panel

In the pre-run period, he announced on his website the sale of a t-shirt “Brazil first: Zema Presidente”, in reference to the pre-candidate (Novo-MG).

In the description, it encourages the customer to show support for political renewal. “The Zema Presidente t-shirt was created to represent the pride of a Brazil that believes in change”, says the website.

The measure, however, is considered illegal by experts in electoral law. The lawyer and doctor in State Law, Renato Ribeiro de Almeida, explains that the law prevents any type of request for voting or standardization of clothing during this period.

“Unless this standardization is made for people who are directly in the electoral campaign, that is, in the official campaign period which is from August 15th until the date of the election. And only campaign employees can use this type of clothing”, he told the Panel.

In a note sent to the column, the party stated that it complies with the law. “The New follows electoral legislation, which authorizes parties to sell products for their financial maintenance.”

After questioning the column, the party took the ad off the air.

Renato Ribeiro explains, however, that this is not about promoting the party, which would be legal, but a clear and explicit request for the name of a pre-candidate, which constitutes an electoral offense.

“Also because this is difficult to prove in accounting and could, ultimately, lead to a conviction of abuse of economic power and also, during the campaign period, in a situation that can generate what we commonly call slush fund”, he concluded.
