PT takes its own INSS report to the PF and the Supreme Court

The PT bench decided to forward its own report to the authorities on the INSS deviation scheme after the closure of the CPMI without consensus on the final opinion. The document will be sent to the Federal Police and the Federal Supreme Court, according to a statement released this Saturday (28).

The parliamentary commission, which investigated pension fraud, ended its work without approving an official report. The opinion of the rapporteur, deputy Alfredo Gaspar (PL-AL), faced resistance from the government base, while an alternative text presented by PT parliamentarians was not voted on.

The parallel report was prepared under the coordination of deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) and expands the scope of the investigations. The document lists around 201 names, with requests for immediate indictment of 130 people and further investigations in another 71 cases.

Among the targets mentioned in the text are former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), appointed as responsible for coordinating the scheme, as well as senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), included on suspicions related to money laundering. Representative Paulo Pimenta (PT-RS) stated that Bolsonaro would be the “head of the criminal scheme that stole billions of reais from retirees”.

The PT version also maintains that the irregularities began in 2017 and expanded in the following years, with greater scope during the Bolsonaro government. The party claims to have gathered documents and data that would support this line of investigation.

In the statement, the PT criticized the commission’s conduct and stated that there was a political decision to end the work without voting on the alternative report. “The PT Bench regretted the fact that the president of the commission, Bolsonaro senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), had ignored the Congressional rules”, says the note.

Gaspar’s opinion, in turn, had called for the indictment of 21 people being investigated and even included a request for preventive detention, with charges such as passive corruption, criminal organization and money laundering.

During the vote, the commission rejected the indictment of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), by 19 votes against and 12 in favor. The result highlighted the internal division within the collegiate and contributed to the final impasse.

By sending the parallel report, the PT tries to keep ongoing investigations outside Congress, transferring the dispute to investigative bodies and the Judiciary.
