Israel’s death penalty law is too much even for friends of the country


Politically moderate Israelis as well as Jews in the diaspora have been faced with a dilemma since the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023: They vehemently reject the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but hold back on criticism because they do not want to undermine cohesion in the face of real threats and the anti-Semitism that often shines through among critics of Israel. This also applies to Israel’s war against Iran.
