Alisson will only return at the end of the season, says Arne Slot – 04/03/2026 – Sports

Injured since March, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson continues to recover. The muscle problem in his right thigh will prevent him from facing Manchester City, in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, this Saturday (4), and Paris Saint-Germin, in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, on Wednesday (8), said the English team’s coach, Arne Slot, this Friday (2).

“He will be out for a little longer. We hope he will be fit at the end of the season,” said Slot.

The European season ends at the end of May, just before the start of the World Cup. The extension of the goalkeeper’s recovery period, therefore, worries the Brazilian national team coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

A starter for Brazil for years, Alisson was cut from friendlies against France and Croatia because of the injury. Ederson acted against the French, and Bento against the Croatians.

The final call-up for the World Cup is on May 18th. The World Cup starts on June 11th, with Brazil’s debut on the 13th.

Alisson wrote on X, formerly Twitter, this Friday, that the plan is to return to the field this month. “I didn’t have a new injury. I’m undergoing treatment, and the plan is to be in full playing condition by the end of April!,” he wrote.

Alisson had another thigh injury in October last year. He returned to acting at the end of November.

Alisson’s replacement on the list for the last two friendlies was Hugo Souza, from Corinthians. Ancelotti has also called up John, from Nottingham Forest, on other occasions. The latter, however, is also injured and should return to training in mid-April.
