Before the war, 20% of world oil exports brute passed through this sea route. Oil prices, which had fallen on Wednesday on hopes of a de-escalation, rose again after Trump’s speechsurpassing 108 dollars per barrel of Brent, the global benchmark for the sector.

This Thursday, the United Kingdom organized a meeting of almost 40 countries to discuss how to restore navigation in the strait.

“We have more than 40 countries to discuss the Strait of Hormuz, the consequences of its closure and the urgent need to restore freedom of navigation in international maritime transport”, declared the British Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yvette Cooperwho chairs the meeting.
