Main historical leader of the (Landless Rural Workers Movement), economist João Pedro Stedile will be honored by the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), in Minas Gerais, with the title of doctor honoris causa.
The honor is due to Stedile’s performance in the movement’s 42 years. The title will be awarded on April 7, in an event that precedes the launch of the 12th edition of the University Journey in Defense of the university.
The proposal was presented by the university’s Faculty of Social Service – the UFJF has a 26-year partnership with the movement. This will be the first honorary doctorate that Stedile has received.
