An incredible 17 years have passed since Juraj Mokré’s victory in the dance show Let’s Dance on Markíza TV. Despite this, the well-known entertainer nodded at the offer to return to the spectacular show and stood against other, younger winners of this show. He heard harsh criticism from the judge Tatiana Drexler in the fourth round. After the broadcast, he responded to her words in an interview for the website.
The tango of Mokré and his dance partner Natália Glosíková was etched in the memories of all viewers, but not in the way they imagined. Shortly after the introduction, they lost their balance during quick turns and fell to the ground. However, they gathered themselves in a flash and finished their performance with serious faces. The audience highly appreciated their performance and earned a standing ovation.
Judge Tatiana Drexler looked at their performance differently. “I think, Ďurko, those dances are terribly interesting, very well done, you also have speed. You have nerves, because someone wouldn’t breathe this easily, and this is the second time I’ve seen you in a crisis situation. You already took Katka Štumpfová (today Jakeš, editor’s note) in quickstep years ago, because she was slipping so badly that she couldn’t dance,” she recalled of his performance in the dance show in 2009.
On the one hand, she appreciated his dancing talent, but on the other, she also had some criticisms. “But this is a really good performance. I think you should train more. I have the feeling that maybe you are a little lazy, because you would fix those hands too. In my opinion, if you trained more, it would be… Because if you go through it ten times, more times to be more confident, you will actually get more into it. Train more“, she told him forcefully.
Drenched in his reputation, he did not owe anything, and Drexler reacted to the assessment in a later interview with a dose of sarcasm. “She is now learning Slovak because she spends a lot of time in Germany. She doesn’t know what to say sometimes. So by the word lazy she meant that I am very tenacious. You just got it wrong, in my opinion. Striving, yes,” he joked.
Juraj Mokrý revealed what kind of relationship he has with Drexler off-camera. “Tanya is great. When we see each other backstage, she always whispers something to me that Ďuri, you know, I am a sarcastic type of woman who is very close to cynicism. And I say, cynicism, you Tána? But it doesn’t exist. But yes. I say, show it to me tonight. If what she showed was cynical, then I want to say that it was definitely not. She was polite, said what she thought, and I believe and know that she is convinced of this and I simply listen to her. If there was a viewer like Táňa, today we are already looking forward to going to Telerán in the morning,” he declared.
