O São Paulo had, perhaps, the greatest performance of the season on Saturday night (4). , for the 10th round of Series A of the Brazilian Championship.
Ferreirinha, three times, and Calleri scored for Tricolor, while Christian scored the heavenly goal. The victory puts the team from São Paulo in second place in the competition, with 20 points won — behind only Palmeiras.
After the game, coach Roger Machado explained SPFC’s formation change and asked for support from the stands after much criticism from the fans.
“I envisioned an alternative structure to the one we had been playing, feeling the need for what we managed to do today in the entire match. It’s not the fact of playing with wingers that you will only make baseline plays. Giving peace of mind for Luciano to float more, with Marcos and Bobadilla approaching. Will Arboleda return to play for São Paulo?
Earlier, before the match against Cruzeiro, defender Arboleda became a casualty for the São Paulo squad. The Ecuadorian was removed from the game for not returning to the other players.
São Paulo received information that the defender had rushed to Ecuador. The board, however, is cautious, as it has not been able to contact the athlete so far, as well as family members and their representatives.
Roger commented on the situation and stated that the player’s case and future are in the hands of Tricolor’s management.
“I have little to say. Arboleda was called up for that match, didn’t make the rematch and was cut. From there, we forwarded the case to the board. We were worried, initially, because we didn’t know what had happened. Now, we’ll wait, but it’s not in my hands”, said the coach.
Arboleda, who has a contract until the end of 2027 with São Paulo, did not leave the bench last Wednesday (1st). In the current season, he made 11 appearances, eight as a starter.
