With the end of the main deadlines in the electoral calendar, parties are accelerating the definitions for the 2026 presidential contest. The party window closed on Friday (8), and the non-compatibilization, which requires the departure from public positions, ended on Saturday (9).
With six months to go until the election, names like Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) have already confirmed their pre-candidacy for the Palácio do Planalto. Registration requests must be submitted to the Electoral Court by August 15th. See the main candidates below:
Lula
The president confirmed, in November last year, his intention to run for a fourth term. He was elected in 2002 and 2006 and returned to office in 2022, becoming the first Brazilian to win three presidential elections.
Flavio Bolsonaro
with the support of former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is ineligible and convicted of a coup plot. Flávio is serving a term in the Senate and has previously been a state and federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro.
Ronaldo Caiado
. He competed for space with Ratinho Jr. and Eduardo Leite, but ended up being chosen by the acronym. Caiado has a long history in politics and has been a federal deputy and senator.
Romeu Zema
For Novo in 2025 and left office in March this year to contest the election. .
Cape Daciolo
The. He already competed in Planalto in 2018, when he finished in sixth place.
Hertz Dias
He was already on the presidential ticket as vice-president in 2018.
Renan Santos
Founder of MBL, he is a pre-candidate for the Missão Party, a party approved by the TSE in 2025. According to AtlasIntel research, he appears technically tied with other names in first round scenarios.
Rui Costa Pimenta
National president of the PCO, he has already run for President on other occasions and had his name approved by the party for 2026.
Samara Martins
