An 18-month-old baby was injured after climbing under a fence and putting his hand into the wolf cage at ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, located in Pennsylvania, United States. A wolf would have approached and placed the baby’s hand in his mouth.
The baby ended up being removed from the place by other visitors who realized what was happening. US authorities described the injuries as “minor” and did not provide further details.
According to the os The baby’s parents, Carrie Sortor, 43, and Stephen Wilson, 61, were reportedly distracted by their cell phones at the time of the incident.
O It is part of the Hershey Entertainment and Resorts theme park, which has already regretted what happened.
“We are aware of an incident involving a young child at ZooAmerica on the morning of Saturday, April 4, and are relieved that the injuries were minor,” he said.
“A wolf approached and touched the child’s hand. This type of reaction is consistent with the natural behavior of animals and was not a sign of aggression”, he points out.
Hershey Entertainment and Resorts emphasizes that and as such, for safety reasons, “must remain within supervised areas and closely supervise children at all times.”
According to the Associated Press, Hersheypark made news last summer when a lost boy wandering through the park was rescued by a visitor. The child was unharmed and reunited with his family.
