Iran: Trump threatens that "an entire civilization will die tonight"

US President Donald Trump threatened this Tuesday that “an entire civilization will die tonight” if the Iranian regime does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, just hours before the end of his ultimatum.

“An entire civilization will die tonight, never to return,” he said in a message published on social media, noting that the next few hours will witness “one of the most important moments” in world history.

“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump said.

The North American President gave Iran an ultimatum for the Islamic regime to once again allow all oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz by 8pm today in Washington (1am on Wednesday in Lisbon).

“We have a plan, thanks to the power of our armed forces, that calls for all of Iran’s bridges to be destroyed by midnight tomorrow. [hoje]that all power plants in Iran are out of service (…) and can never be used again”, he stated.

In the message he published today on social media, Donald Trump also admitted that he hopes that his threat will be taken seriously and his orders will be carried out.

“Now that we have a regime change [no Irão] complete and total, where different, more intelligent and less radicalized minds prevail, perhaps something revolutionary and wonderful can happen. Who knows?” he asked.

“We will find out tonight in one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world”, he said, adding that “47 years of extortion, corruption and death will finally come to an end”, referring to the period since Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979. “May God bless the great people of Iran”, he concluded.

Iranian authorities on Monday refused any negotiations with the United States under threat from the President.

According to the North American news portal Axios, the United States, the and a group of regional mediators are discussing the terms of a possible 45-day ceasefire that could lead to a definitive end to the war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to the portal, the talks, which are being conducted by Pakistani, Egyptian and Turkish mediators, but also through text messages exchanged between Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, include the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a solution for Iran’s highly enriched uranium.

Iran had previously stated that it intends to maintain control of the strait even after the war and that it is preparing a law to impose a toll system on ships that want to cross it.
