The Iranian embassies have made the humor its main propaganda tool, with jokes and trolling of the American president, Donald Trump, on social networks laughing at his military campaign, his public appearances or his words about the conflict with Iran, often accompanied by satirical photographs or memes.
War propaganda has been a strategic tool in armed conflicts, usually using exaggeration or, especially with added humor. Along these lines, for days the social networks of the Iranian embassies around the world have become humor strips with anti-American and anti-Israel jokes.
It is one of the ones that made the most humorous publications of this type. Trump had published a message in which he said “Open the fucking strait, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell (…)”, to which the embassy responded with a “we have lost the keys.”
In another publication, this embassy cited a message from United States Central Command (CENTCOM) which said that the sailors were preparing the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Launcher Systems (HIMARS), and then added a photograph of a controller with several missile activation buttons and a message that said “BOOM (left) BOOM (right) TEL AVIV.”
The Iranian embassy in Spain recovered a frame of the video of the speech yesterday, Easter Monday, and wrote: “The world would be safer if the rabbit had the microphone.”
The embassy in Türkiye also decided to join this wave of trolling. He wrote several messages with jokes accompanied by sarcastic illustrations. One of them said “Do you know why the United States and the Israeli terrorist regime attacked the Pasteur Institute in Iran? Because the virology department of that institution had identified two dangerous parasites called Trump and Netanyahu.”
In another message, this embassy mocked the US president with a message that began with “Trump gave Iran 48 hours, telling him: Either reach a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz.” The embassy then finished with: “The Americans seem to have forgotten that they have been giving us ultimatums for 48 years and have failed every time.”
For its part, the embassy in the UK published the popular meme of the man holding a cup in front of his computer in two moments: the first with the message “Trump: no air force or missiles left.” In the second he appears smiling with the message: “Iran: Hits an F-15, an A-10, a Black Hawk and an F-16CJ in less than 24 hours.”
The Iranian embassy of Indonesia He was not far behind either, as he published a message that said: “When your boss asks you: Why do you deserve a promotion instead of your colleagues?”, and they responded with a video compiling phrases from Trump at different events talking about himself.
“No one knows more about construction than me”, “No one in the history of this country has ever known as much about infrastructure as I do” or “I know about drones more than anyone” were some of the phrases of the American president included in the video.
The Iranian embassy in South Africa published an illustration of Trump in a war scenario, with fire in the background, downed planes and torn American flags on the ground, in front of a lectern at a press conference.
Trump pronounces the phrase “we have won” dressed in a pristine suit on top and with pants full of holes just below the ledge on which he leans.
The same embassy cited a publication by Tom Cotton, Republican-affiliated U.S. senator, which read: “The brave men and women of the 142nd Arkansas Field Artillery Brigade depart for the Middle East. Arkansas thanks them for their service.”
The Iranian embassy in that country responded by writing: “The Israeli regime is grateful for your service” and included an illustration of Netanyahu in front of a grave covered by an American flag and a speech balloon coming out of the Israeli leader’s mouth: “Thank you for your service,” it says.
