Ábalos, Koldo García and Aldama arrive at the Supreme Court to sit on the bench
By Rocío Martínez Posada. The three defendants are already inside the Supreme Court room. The former Minister of Transportation José Luis Ábalos; his former right-hand man, Koldo García; and the businessman and alleged achiever of the plot, Víctor de Aldama, have arrived at the Supreme Court minutes before what will be the first trial of the Koldo case.
Ábalos and his former advisor have come directly from the Madrid prison of Soto del Real, where they have been since last November. Aldama, free, has arrived on his own two feet. The first two face up to 30 years in prison for the alleged scheme to collect bribes in exchange for contracts to buy masks in the middle of the pandemic. The businessman, on the other hand, only faces a possible sentence of 7 years in prison because all the accusations, both the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the popular ones (headed by the PP) took his confession into account.
