O São Paulo faced more than Boston River in the Copa Sudamericana debut, on Tuesday (7). In a storm at the Centenário Stadium, in Montevideo, the team managed a goal in Bobadilla’s individual brilliance e won 1-0.

With preservations, the São Paulo team already had limitations. This was worsened by strong rain and wind conditions in the Uruguayan capital. Still, the team was little threatened and managed to do everything possible to win.

The result leaves São Paulo in second place in Group C from Sul-Americana. The leader is O’Higginsfrom Chile, who beat Millionarios, from Colombia, 2-0 and, therefore, has a better goal difference.

The São Paulo returns to the field on Saturday (11), visiting Vitóriafor the 11th round of the Brasileirão. Afterwards, the team returns to play in the South American Championship, debuting at home in the competition. The opponent will be O’Higgins, taking the lead in the group.

The wind in Montevideo had gusts of around 55 km/h and it affected the night of both teams during the warm-up. The players were unable to work before the game on the Centenário Stadium field.

São Paulo attacked with the wind at its back in the first half. Not only for this reason, the team had greater offensive volume against a defensive line of five Uruguayan players.

This is not to say that the Boston River just retrenched itself. The home team had the first good chance, with Yair González, with a shot outside the area, which had to be saved by Rafael. The team showed that it had dead balls as its main weapon.

The São Paulo team incorporated the “Uruguayan style”, with little quality in the ball worked. When he entered the São Paulo attacking area, the game turned into a kick festival. THE fragile relationship with alternative lineup it also hurt the team’s performance.

The rain and wind became more intense and imposed even more difficulties in the game. The ball didn’t even stay still for free kicks.

Five minutes into the second halfin a cry, São Paulo finally managed to score. Cauly took advantage after a rebound and pushed it into the net. But, he was prevented, and the goal was disallowed.

São Paulo continued to put pressure on, even if with difficulty. Bobadilla made the difference in an individual play, confirming the good phase he is going through. The Paraguayan dribbled past a marker at the edge of the area and crossed the ball to open the scoring.

The final minutes saw more action from Boston River. There were, however, no concrete chances to outline any reaction. On the São Paulo side, it was worth watching the boy Tetê, who showed personality with his dribbling.
