The President of the Republic asked this Thursday that “dialogue never ends” on the changes to labor law and promised that he will be “always consistent” with the statements made in the campaign, when he said that, without an agreement in the Social Concertation, he would veto this reform.
“I answered him yesterday that I am an optimistic person, and I believe that the country really needs dialogue. It has not yet been possible to reach this understanding, according to the statements made by UGT, but I renew this need for dialogue to never be exhausted because it is through dialogue that there can be convergence”, António José Seguro responded to journalists during a visit to the Pedrógão Grande volunteer fire station, in Leiria.

The UGT National Secretariat rejected the current proposal to review changes to labor legislation presented by the Government and called for the continuation of negotiations, with the executive assured, through the voice of the Minister of the Presidency, that it keeps “the door open to complete the negotiation”.
