Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro praised the deputy after the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), called for the overturn of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) veto on reducing the sentences of those convicted on January 8th. The proposal benefits the former president (PL).
“Great Nikolas”, he wrote on his Instagram when sharing a post by the deputy, which shows a photo of the Minas Gerais parliamentarian with Alcolumbre. Behind the scenes of the PL, the assessment is that victory will carry the deputy’s stamp, especially if confirmed in plenary with the veto overturned.
Michelle and Nikolas are part, in PL, of a group that has sometimes accumulated friction with Bolsonaro’s children. The assessment is that the descendants of the former president fear losing space on the right in the face of the growth of the former first lady and the parliamentarian. Recently, by former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro.
In the PL and other right-wing groups, Michelle was seen as one of the possible candidacy of governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP) for the Presidency. Nikolas, on the other hand, is the group’s bet as a future presidential candidate because of his influence among the young public. The deputy is 29 years old.
The so-called Dosimetry PL, as it became known, was approved last year in the Chamber and the Senate, with support from the PL and opposition from the PT, but. Since then, Alcolumbre has not scheduled a session of Congress to analyze the veto, and those convicted continue to serve their sentences in full.
Alcolumbre’s decision to impose the veto was announced this Thursday (09), one day after a conversation with Nikolas Ferreira. The deputy, considered a right-wing digital guru and one of the PL’s vote-pullers for this year’s election, tried to convince the president of the Senate to convene the Congress session.
“At this moment I just have to thank the president. The mission is not completed, we have to overturn the veto, which is up to Congress. But the penultimate step was taken to be able to free these people. I’m glad he listened to me. Yesterday I told him I would just say one thing: ‘thank you'”, Nikolas told Sheet.
One of the reasons why the veto took so long to be discussed was the pressure from the opposition for a mixed CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) into the Master bank fraud. According to the regulations, this type of collegial body must be established in the first session of Congress held after being registered with the minimum number of signatures.
President of the PL in Minas Gerais, deputy Domingos Sávio told Sheet that Nikolas is “a phenomenon” because “in addition to having a great influence and attracting millions of people, he has shown himself to be mature and skilled in achieving objectives that he considers fair.”
The deputy, who is a pre-candidate for the Senate, stated that the right owes a lot to Nikolas for “this announcement made by President Alcolumbre. Now it’s time to ensure that this is fulfilled and that we can actually overturn the veto.”
