Tiger Woods “responds well to treatment” in rehabilitation, says newspaper

Tiger Woods is showing progress while following an intensive rehabilitation program after being arrested for driving under the influence, reported the Daily Mail.

“He has a pain management doctor who is helping him manage his body pain without the use of addictive opioids,” a source told the British publication. “He stays in touch via phone or Zoom with a small group of people.”

According to the newspaper, this group includes, in addition to his sons Sam and Charlie, and agent Mark Steinberg, who has represented him since 1998.

According to the Daily MailWoods, 50, would be in Switzerland, in a residential treatment program expected to last 90 days.

O He was detained on suspicion of drug driving and refusing to take a urine test after his Land Rover collided with the back of a truck and rolled over.

Authorities said he was under the influence of medication, not alcohol. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of two hydrocodone pills, authorities confirmed.

“He is responding well to treatment, and Vanessa is very pleased with what she has heard,” a friend of Trump’s told the newspaper.

On the morning of the accident, there was intense speculation about Woods’ possible participation in the Masters Tournament. The athlete has not competed in a PGA Tour event since The Open Championship in 2024, when he did not make the cut due to injuries.

He ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the spring of 2025 and underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in October.

Accident history

This was not the player’s first accident. On February 23, 2021, authorities said Woods was driving at a high rate of speed when he was involved in an accident near Los Angeles. He had serious injuries to his right leg and ankle that required multiple surgeries.

In a statement released on March 31, Woods said he is prioritizing his health over golf.

“I know and understand the gravity of the situation I find myself in today”, says the text. “I am taking time off to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary to prioritize my well-being and work towards a lasting recovery.

“I am committed to taking the time necessary to return in better condition — healthier, stronger and more focused — both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and I ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
