With energy prices rising again, Brussels is preparing to suggest a list of measures to governments, which include teleworking, reducing the price of public transport and supporting vulnerable families, in order to mitigate the impact of rising prices.
With prices remaining high at gas stations, Brussels suggests increasing teleworking days so that workers can stay at home and not need to get into the car at least one day a week
Other measures include reducing the price of public transport and exempting tolls for heavy electric vehicles. The logic is to save and cut energy consumption in a preliminary version.
The commission also defends the reduction of air travel for employees of private and public companies. Although for now I reject that there is a lack of fuel.
Brussels is preparing to present more than 50 measures, but they are mainly recommendations. The decision remains in the hands of governments. Some of the proposals already exist in Portugal, such as social energy tariffs or subsidies for replacing gas appliances with electric ones.
