Judge of Pará criticizes cutting of hangings – 04/20/2026 – Politics

A judge complained during a session of the Supreme Court (Federal Supreme Court) about the payment of fees to magistrates across the country and added that “in a little while we will be on the list of employees who work under a system of slavery”.

Eva do Amaral Coelho also stated that narratives were created to the point where a judge was seen as someone unscrupulous, who intended to “earn a lot without doing anything”.

“Today we have gone from citizens who protect our rights to the villains of history. We are the bad guys now,” she said.

“I wanted part of the population to come and experience the day-to-day life of a judge and judge, to see how we work. Huge overtime, sacrificing weekends.”

Eva spoke about the matter on April 9, during a session of the 3rd Panel of Criminal Law, of the Court of Justice of Pará. She apologized to her colleagues and said that she was “letting off steam about a very sad situation.”

The reporter sent an email and contacted the Court of Justice of Pará by telephone this Monday (20), but was unable to contact the magistrate or court representatives.

Eva is 73 years old and was approved in a public examination for the position of judge in the 1980s. She became a judge in 2020. In March, according to the payroll released by the TJ, she received R$91.2 thousand, in net amounts.

“Saying that the judge doesn’t work and that he seeks funds and more funds and more funds, like a privilege, a gimmick, an expression so foul and so slutty that they threw it at the judiciary that today we live with enormous tension”, she said, citing colleagues who would already be having difficulty paying bills.

Eva also stated that there is no voice today in defense of magistrates and that “the more we defend ourselves, the more we are excoriated”. “The population will feel when they seek justice and it really doesn’t get it. Then they will feel it and see which side they chose”, she stated.
