Young Guinean midfielder Alamara Djabi, aged 19, was seriously injured last Sunday, in the city of Herning, Denmark, following a stabbing.
In a statement, Midtjylland, the club he currently represents, revealed that the player was at risk of death and underwent two surgeries. The Danish team also said that Djabi has already come out of an induced coma and is in a stable condition.
“Alamara Djabi’s life was in danger and he underwent emergency surgery. Since then, he has undergone further surgery and, thanks to the professional work of the emergency teams called to the scene and, subsequently, the doctors at the hospital, his condition is now stable. He has woken up from the induced coma and is doing well, given the circumstances”, read the statement from the Danish club.
Danish authorities have now identified the main suspect in the attack: a 20-year-old man, Moussa Habib Jensen, who is on the run.
Graduated from Benfica, a club he played for four years, Djabi transferred to Midtjylland in 2023.
Last season, he was on loan to Mafra and, in the current season, he has played three games for the under-19 team and one appearance for the Danish club’s main team.
