The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a man who was preparing an attack on the Defense Ministry’s facilities, the agency’s press office reported.
“In Moscow, a Russian citizen born in 1981 was detained who planned to activate a homemade explosive device near the premises of the Ministry of Defense, at the request of Ukrainian terrorist organizations banned on Russian territory”, indicated the FSB on its official portal.
According to investigators, the detainee established contacts with Kiev and traveled to the Russian capital to carry out the attack, in exchange for which they promised to take him to Ukraine to fight against the Russian Armed Forces, which invaded the neighboring country in 2022.
The FSB seized the cell phone that the man used to contact Ukrainian forces.
“The suspect confessed to his illegal activities on the orders of terrorist organizations in Ukraine; a precautionary measure of detention was imposed on him,” the entity added.
During the interrogation, he acknowledged that he was asked to choose between three targets and given the coordinates of the place where the explosive device was hidden.
The Moscow FSB department opened criminal proceedings for participation in an organization declared terrorist in Russia.
Just today, the regional department of the FSB in the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, detained an agent of the Ukrainian secret services who allegedly collected information about military units in this area.
