The case occurred on April 21 in the community of União de Vila Nova, a neighborhood in the Subprefecture of São Miguel Paulista, in the east zone of the capital
The Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Nico Gonçalves, said this Sunday, 3, that in more than four decades working in the State security forces, had not come across something as terrible as the case of The attackers filmed the violence and posted the videos on social media.
“In 45 years as a police officer, I have not been able to watch the video until the end, a terrible, unforgettable scene, it will remain in my subconscious for a long time.”
According to the secretary, the teenager involved has not yet been located by the police.. “There is still one person on the run, who is Christian (the teenage attacker). But we have teams negotiating with the family at this moment so that he can turn himself in, which is better for him.”
Three teenagers were apprehended. In the late afternoon of Saturday, the 2nd, the only adult involved was found after fleeing to Bahia. They will answer for the crimes of rape of a vulnerable person, dissemination of an image of a minor, corruption of minors.
According to delegate Janaína da Silva Dziadowczyk, responsible for the investigation, the case first had repercussions on social media, but the incident had not been reported to the police station.
“As soon as we became aware, the investigators went out into the field and managed to locate the victims, because the victims were being pressured not to file a police report. Although the videos were being published on the internet, the family had not filed a report.”
Janaína states that the sister of one of the victims, who no longer lives in the community, received the videos, recognized them and took the case to the police station. But she had no information about where and when the crimes occurred.
Families were pressured not to call the police. “The family was pressured by the community. They wanted to resolve it between themselves and didn’t want the police to find out.”
The research shows that the aggressors lived with victims and took advantage of this relationship to commit the crimes.
“They were neighbors, and they lived together. The children had confidence in them. They went to fly kites. They were attracted to this property (of one of the teenagers) because they passed by and said: ‘let’s fly a kite? Oh, come in here and there’s a line'”
“One of the teenagers said that initially it was a joke that ended up escalating. But the initiative to record the videos was the older one’s. He was the one who started the jokes, according to them. And he started recording on his cell phone. And then he asked another minor to record it.”
Understand the case
The case occurred on April 21 in the União de Vila Nova communityneighborhood in the Subprefecture of São Miguel Paulista, in the east of the capital.
“The family, out of fear, did not have the courage to report it. The guardianship council and the police only became aware on April 24th”, says deputy mayor Divaldo Rosa, in a video published on social media. He only commented on the case this Thursday, the 30th.
The attackers recorded the rape of vulnerable people and shared the images on a social network. In one of the 63-second videos, the children cry, scream and say “stop” at least nine times and “I don’t want to” five times. Meanwhile, the rapists laugh, insist on the act and attack the victims.
Estadão was unable to contact the defense of the teenagers, nor of the fugitive. The report contacted the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Public Defender’s Office, but received no response.
In the report, Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) defined the case as “terrible”. “The children were welcomed by City Hall equipment. One is with her mother in a Vila Reencontro. The other is with her two brothers at the Institutional Service for Children and Adolescents, because the Guardianship Council found that there were no conditions for them to remain with their mother, who is drug addicted, where they lived.”
The victims are being monitored by the Guardianship Council of São Miguel Paulista, by social workers and health professionals and by the Bem-Me-Quer Project, a state government shelter program for victims of sexual violence.
“This case is revolting, it shocks and it cannot be treated as something normal. Abusers act most of the time in the shadow of fear, omission and lack of reporting to public bodies”, said Deputy Mayor Divaldo Rosa.
“If you know of any case of child abuse, report it anonymously by calling 100. You could be saving a life. Protecting children is the duty of all of us.”
