The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Sunday, 3, that American representatives are having very positive discussions with Iran, which could lead to “something very positive for everyone”.
In a post on the Truth Social network, Trump reported that “countries around the world”, almost all of them without any involvement in the conflict in the Middle East, asked the United States for help in freeing ships “that are stuck in the Strait of Hormuz”.
In response, the American president stated that “for the sake of Iran, the Middle East and the United States”, from Monday the 4th, in the morning Middle Eastern time, the so-called “Project Freedom” will begin – which encompasses the best efforts to remove ships and crews “that have done nothing wrong” from the site.
It is, according to Trump, a “humanitarian gesture”. He warned that any interference in the vessel release process “unfortunately will have to be dealt with forcefully”. In a long post, the American president mentions that many of the ships in the Strait of Hormuz are dealing with food shortages, which makes it difficult to keep the crew healthy and hygienic.
According to Trump, the countries that contacted him said they will not return to the Strait of Hormuz until the area becomes safe for navigation.
Earlier on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said he was evaluating the United States’ response to its latest proposal – which addresses 14 points – to end the war, but made clear there are no nuclear negotiations at the moment.
