The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) announced the dismissal of an employee identified as the attacker of an employee at a fast-food drive-thru in Brasília.
The case occurred last Friday night, and gained repercussion after the establishment’s security circuit cameras recorded the moment in which the UN employee He slapped the worker at the fast-food establishment in the face.
According to UNODOC, the woman was administratively suspended and will be on leave while the investigations are ongoing, and explained that the employee’s conduct will be investigated by the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), an independent UN body, “to take appropriate action.”
UNODC reiterated “that it is available to cooperate with national authorities” and said that “No form of violence is tolerated” and that all its personnel have “an obligation to comply with UN rules and regulations (…), refraining from any behavior that contradicts the values of respect, integrity, responsibility and ethics that guide the United Nations system.”
What motivated the aggression?
The Brazilian press identified the attacker as Huíla Borges Klanovichs, 35 years oldwho was contacted, but did not want to speak out.
Police authorities who dealt with the case described to local newspapers that the confusion began after a mistake when assembling a sandwich that shouldn’t have onions.
