Os electric and hybrid cars (electrified) already represent a considerable portion of total car sales in Brazil. Finding a public charging point can be a challenge and you still need to rely on space availability.
Thinking in this sense, a Bill (PL) 801/26 wants to punish drivers who leave in a public vacancy after battery recharging is complete.
The proposal could punish this type of attitude with a fine (R$ 195.23) and five more points on the license. Furthermore, the PL still determines that the car can be removed.
According to the text that is still being analyzed by the Federal Chamberafter the recharge is fully completed, the driver has up to 15 minutes to free up the public space. After the time has passed, a fine will be imposed.
If the driver spends more than 30 minutes getting the car out of the parking space, the PL determines that the vehicle will have to be removed.
For the author of the project, deputy Marcos Soares (PSDB-RJ), the measure seeks to prevent the misuse of public charging infrastructure. “The Traffic Code does not specifically typify undue stay in these spaces”, explains the parliamentarian.
What are the next steps?
The PL will be conclusively analyzed by the Road and Transport committees; and Constitution, Justice and Citizenship. To become law, it must be approved by both the Chamber and the Senate.
