Amid discussions about Neymar’s presence in the next World Cup, João Pedro came out in defense of the Brazilian team’s number 10. In an interview with TNT Sports, the Chelsea striker compared the star’s importance for Brazil to that of Lionel Messi for Argentina and stated that he hopes to share the squad with his idol at the World Cup.
“(I want). Neymar is Neymar. Just like Neymar is for Brazil. Neymar is my idol. He’s a guy I didn’t have the opportunity to play with”, said the striker.
João Pedro also said that he has already met Neymar thanks to Vinicius Junior and highlighted the amount of admiration that the Seleção players have for Santos’ number 10.
“I’ve already met him, thanks to Vinicius, at one of his parties. I think Neymar is the idol of almost everyone in the national team. I hope he can be at the World Cup and that I can be with him. I wish him good health. I hope to see him at the World Cup.”
The declaration comes in the final stretch for coach Carlo Ancelotti’s announcement of Brazil’s call-up for the , which will be held on May 18, in Rio de Janeiro.
